Our Challenges

Assessing the Needs of Saint Peter Middle School

Saint Peter Middle School originally opened as Saint Peter High School in 1958. The building has served the Saint Peter School District well for decades, but over time, its infrastructure has aged, and education has changed significantly. Today, this building serves our middle school and early childhood students - not our high school students as originally designed. Students and staff face several challenges due to the building’s age and design that impact their learning and health:

Our commitment to facility equity

The middle school has ultimately not received the same level of investment as our other buildings. As part of our district’s goals to maintain and improve our facilities, we are committed to making the middle school a place that our students, staff, and community can be proud of for many years to come.

How were these needs identified?

Starting in 2022, expert third-party assessments of the middle school were completed to identify the quality and educational adequacy of the building. The district reviewed the results of these assessments and prioritized the most critical improvements, before working extensively with financial experts to create a fiscally responsible investment plan for our schools and community.
